WHY WE EXIST

Black entrepreneurs in America have expressed several key needs from the government to help support and grow their businesses. Some of the most commonly cited needs include:

1. Access to Capital:
Many Black entrepreneurs face difficulties in securing loans and investment. They seek more equitable access to funding, grants, and loan programs specifically targeted at minority-owned businesses.

2. Technical Assistance and Training:
There is a demand for programs that offer business education, mentorship, and training in areas such as financial management, marketing, and technology.

3. Supportive Policies and Legislation:
Entrepreneurs call for policies that address systemic inequalities, such as anti-discrimination laws, tax incentives for minority-owned businesses, and initiatives that encourage supplier diversity in government contracting.

4. Networking Opportunities:
Creating platforms and events where Black entrepreneurs can connect with peers, potential partners, and investors is crucial. This also includes fostering environments where they can share resources and knowledge.

5. Access to Government Contracts:
Ensuring that Black-owned businesses have fair opportunities to compete for and win government contracts can provide significant growth opportunities.

6. Community Investment: Investment in community infrastructure, including better access to high-speed internet, transportation, and commercial real estate, helps create an environment where businesses can thrive.

7. Reducing Bureaucratic Barriers: Simplifying the process of starting and running a business, including reducing the red tape and streamlining licensing and regulatory requirements, can make it easier for entrepreneurs to navigate the system.

These needs highlight a desire for systemic change and support structures that can address historical and ongoing inequities, providing a more level playing field for Black entrepreneurs to succeed.
